WEBZEN Inc. (WWW.WEBZEN.COM), the Next Generation of Free-to-Play Online Games, announced their first ESL Europe online tournament during the upcoming closed beta for the modern military FPS game ‘ARCTIC COMBAT’.
This August 16th (GMT), the registration for the Arctic Combat ESL (Electronic Sports League) Europe tournament will start allowing players around Europe to participate in this event. This will be the first step to build a competitive community in the e-sports world. Players will be able to apply for the tournament through the official Arctic Combat website (ac.webzen.com).
The preliminaries for the event are scheduled to start on August 26th (GMT), which will determine the top two teams that will meet at the finals. The finals will take place on the September 15th (GMT) to decide who the first champions of Europe will be. Viewers around the world will be able to enjoy this event through livestream hosted by the famous e-sports caster Joe Miller.
For the upcoming closed beta starting from August 22nd (GMT), the North America server will open along with the newly located server in Europe allowing players in this region to play under smooth conditions. New contents that are added will be revealed through the upcoming game trailer.
Jihun Lee, Head of Global Publishing, said, “Webzen is preparing various e-sports events with the start of the first ESL tournament and plan to also hold more in North America.” Also he said, “Through the previous beta test, we have focused on localization and development for the enjoyment of the upcoming closed beta.”
Meanwhile, Webzen will be participating in Gamescom 2012 in Germany with an exclusive B2B booth revealing new information for their game titles along with various B2C events.
